Meet the AWE Tuning R8 4.2L Straight Pipes. This system unlocks the same impressive power gains of 25 hp and 28 ft-lbs as our SwitchPath™ Exhaust System, but sheds even more weight over the stock exhaust system, for a total weight loss of 50 lbs. Be warned, though: The sound from the straight pipes is not for the faint of heart, small children, or small pets, and there are no "switching options" available with this addition.

Scared? Take a step back to the head-turning yet sophisticated SwitchPath™ Exhaust. AWE Tuning stands by this product with a lifetime warranty, however, this product cannot be returned or exchanged based upon sound satisfaction.
Please note, this exhaust is legal only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway.

Track and Touring, all in one elegant SwitchPath™ Exhaust.

The AWE Tuning Porsche 991 SwitchPath™ Exhaust includes integrated valves designed to afford drivers the best of both worlds: A Track Edition Exhaust and a Touring Edition Exhaust, all in one.

The AWE Tuning Porsche 991 SwitchPath™ Exhaust responds to the exhaust valve position commands sent from your Porsche's ECU dependent on your throttle input. This means that the AWE Tuning Porsche 991 SwitchPath™ Exhaust will transform from "Track" (The SwitchPath™ valve directs exhaust gasses away from the side mufflers, for Cup Car levels of "announcement") to "Touring" (The SwitchPath™ valve closes, routing exhaust gasses through the stock side mufflers, for a sophisticated, signature AWE Tuning tone, at a volume slightly above stock). Exhaust volume change matches the driving style: Aggressive throttle input elicits aggressive exhaust volume; tame throttle input elicits tame exhaust volume.

The AWE Tuning Porsche 991 SwitchPath™ Exhaust shows midrange gains of 20hp and 25tq at the crank and weighs in at 7.5lbs less than the stock unit, accomplished by replacing the stock center muffler with AWE Tuning-engineered strategically sized straight pipe sections.

AWE Tuning Golf R SwitchPath Exhaust + Performance Downpipe

The Golf R SwitchPath Exhaust can change personality via AWE Tuning's proprietary mechanical valve system. In essence, the AWE Tuning SwitchPath system is a Track Edition and a Touring Edition -- all in one.

For those looking for additional power and sound out of their Golf R even beyond the SwitchPath Exhaust, we present the AWE Tuning Golf R Performance Downpipe. Each feature of the AWE Tuning Golf R Performance Downpipe was chosen for performance and longevity after thorough road and in-house dyno R&D. Combined with the AWE Tuning SwitchPath Exhaust or Track Edition Exhaust, and G.I.A.C. Performance Software, the full turbo-back system will produce +69hp, +69tq!

The AWE Tuning Golf R Performance Downpipe features an integrated resonator to keep the exhaust sound volume "aggressively sophisticated" even with the elimination of the very restrictive factory converters. As with all of the AWE Tuning systems, the Golf R downpipe will not trigger a Check Engine Light in the Golf R, even on factory software.

The factory exhaust consists of a long downpipe with two catalytic converters, while the AWE Tuning Golf R Performance Downpipe uses a single high-flow catalytic converter and a resonator for precise sound tuning.

All AWE Tuning systems are made in-house.

This is a sentence that we find ourselves saying many, many times each day to clients over email, on the phone and in person. The reality behind those words is that AWE Tuning has a highly skilled and dedicated team of fabricators on staff that are meticulous in their preparation and execution of each cut, bend and weld. Their work deserves to be showcased, and that is exactly what we are about to do.

This video shows all 22 hours involved in fabricating the one-piece R8 V10 SwitchPath system, boiled down into about 1:35.

This is what it takes to earn an AWE Tuning serial number.
