And the feelings of Gunners fans were shared by midfielder Matteo Guendouzi when team-mate Granit Xhaka fired an ambitious effort miles over the bar.
Like many fans watching the game, Guendouzi was furious with Xhaka's wasteful decision as they chased the game and struggled to break United down.
The 19-year-old midfielder threw his arms in the air in a clear show of displeasure as he failed to turn the game in favour of his side after being introduced by Unai Emery in the second half.
Arsenal fans picked up on Guendouzi's animated reaction.
The Gunners were always playing catch-up at the Emirates after a quick-fire United double gave them the upper hand in the first half.

But Anthony Martial sealed it for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side moments after Xhaka's woeful strike and ensured Arsenal left as frustrated as Guendouzi was after the moment of madness.
