The Portuguese received a lot of stick from the home supporters throughout the last-16 tie due to the fact he represented their bitter rivals Real Madrid for nine years.

Atletico got their own back on the forward however after Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin got on the scoresheet to win the match for the Spaniards.
